When it comes to Christmas desserts, cookies are usually the star of the show. After all, Christmas cookies and a big glass of milk are what Santa usually gobbles up by the tree. And if it's not cookies, then other seasonal treats associated with the holiday — peppermint bark, candy canes, even trifle — usually come in its place.

And while all those treats may be delicious, Christmas cake should not be overlooked. After all, a vanilla-frosted cake is the perfect backdrop for any kind of winter scene you can dream up, especially when topped with coconut-shaving snow. (And, fortunately, gingerbread cookies, peppermint bark, and candy canes work perfectly as cake-toppers.) You can go all out with your Christmas cake decorations, and try to turn the whole thing into a wreath or a Santa suit. Or, you can add a few bottle brush trees, peppermint sticks, or cranberry "holly berries" on top and call it a day — it'll still look beautiful. And, if your fondant skills are sharp, you can also add finishing touches like snowflakes and gift bows. When Santa gets a load of these Christmas cake decorations, he might just change his mind about the whole cookie thing.
